Usually, a candle will first win you over with scent, and it’s your nose that will play the main role in choosing the right one for you. But every so often, a candle will be so beautiful, it’ll be your eyes that it delights first.
The candles from Blushing Ivy firmly fall into that category.
Lovingly made at the Sunshine Coast, the Blushing Ivy range includes a gorgeous selection of candles in bespoke travel tins, featuring whimsical hand-drawn artwork by Australian artist Victoria McGrane.
There’s the Bush Florals & Native Honey scented candle, nestled inside a tin featuring the very cute Pygmy possum, gum blossoms and native bees. Or the Banksia & Bergamot candle, wrapped in a beautiful print inspired by the cheeky laughing kookaburra and the banksia flower, with a fresh bergamot and wattle fragrance.
The gorgeous artworks also feature on Blushing Ivy’s limited edition range of glass jar candles. Like the Australian Bush candle, wrapped in a print depicting banksias, myrtle and Australian wildlife, which will fill your home with the aroma of Australian natives. Or the Australian Sandalwood scented candle, featuring vibrant artwork with gum blossoms, magpies, kookaburras and cheeky sugar gliders. Candles from the glass jar range also come with a matching greeting card featuring the artwork, making them an easy gifting option. And these two candles are not only a treat for the eyes and nose, but also the ears. They both feature a crackling wood wick for added ambience, perfect for evoking feelings of sitting by an open fireplace in the cool winter months.
It was just after her last baby was born in 2011 that Sunshine Coast local Lorrae Davies started creating candles and fragrance. Already a big lover of candles herself, she thought there needed to be something else on the market that was a little different and a bit fun. So in 2018 she started Blushing Ivy—the name is a blend of Lorrae’s favourite colour pink, and her daughter Ivy. The range includes candles and home fragrances, with scents chosen to transport you to your happy place, and evoke feelings of relaxation, serenity and home.
All candles are essential oil-based, and made in small batches using lead-free cotton wicks and 100% pure, vegan-friendly soy wax. And they’re not only good for you, they’re good for the environment. Care is always taken to choose the most sustainably available sources, and for the bespoke travel tin range, for every candle sold, $1 is donated to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors.
And as for those beautiful containers, you can either reuse them around your home, or they can be returned for a refill so you can enjoy them all over again.
